In case of products for new rolling stock as well as in case of replacement of obsolete designs, Bonatrans provides its customers with a comprehensive service connected with development and approval of new designs; starting with discussions of initial data and drafting of a new design through to the organization and ensuring testing of parts for prototype testing and their approval for operation.

New product designs are developed through mathematic modeling of the actual loading of wheels and axles (finite element method, modal analysis, etc.). However, mathematic models would be useless without knowing the properties of material that is being simulated. Models used in development by Bonatrans are based on a valuable information database. Data included in this database have been collected by Bonatrans personnel through empirical research and analyses. In this way Bonatrans designers are able to offer a new design within a very short time.

Properties of the proposed design are verified by tests performed on specimen and real sized samples (braking tests, fatigue tests, noise level tests, etc.). Tests carried out prove very good conformity between the results of Bonatrans mathematic models and the actual values measured.

Tests are performed in cooperation with a number of renowned research institutes and universities.

The share of our own design products is growing significantly. While in the mid 1990s our own designs represented only approx. 4% of total deliveries from Bonatrans, in 2009 the share exceeded 47%. This documents the shift from mere manufacturer towards provider of comprehensive services.
