Driving wheelsets manufactured by Bonatrans for passenger transport are equipped with a gearbox and usually also with brake disks . These wheelsets can also be provided with a noise absorber, as needed. They are significantly lighter and have lower axle loading compared with locomotive driving wheelsets. Axles of these wheelsets are often delivered with a longitudinally drilled hole, which allows easy diagnostics during operation and reduces the wheelset weight.
