BONATRANS GROUP, the largest European producer of railway wheelsets, wheels and axles passed successfully through certification IRIS – the International Railway Industry Standard - in January. IRIS certification is the highest possible attestation of high quality in the railway industry. As a major supplier to global rolling stock system builders, such as Bombardier Transportation, Alstom Transport, Siemens Mobility and others, BONATRANS GROUP deeply values that it has gained the certification that will become necessary condition later this year.
The IRIS certificate is the highest proof of quality of design, development as well as manufacture that can be gained in the railway industry. As Mr. Vladimir Vampola, the Head of the Quality Control Section in BONATRANS GROUP, puts it: ”The Standard evaluates especially new requirements on high quality, safety and smoothness of deliveries in the whole value chain.”
Acquisition of the IRIS certificate has direct influence on a company market position. Only certificate holders will be able to supply to major rolling stock manufacturers. The database of IRIS certificate holders is publicly available at the web pages of IRIS Portal. “Each interested party can quickly look at what companies have passed through the certification and which companies are missing. I am sure that many customers will do that during their tenders,” says Mr. Vampola.
