Vast majority of products for construction of new rolling stock are delivered by Bonatrans in the form of complete wheelsets , ready for immediate assembly into bogies by the customer. Only certain driving wheelsets are an exception is, where assembly at the customer’s facility is more advantageous due to logistical reasons. Based on a particular agreement with the customer, Bonatrans also performs assembly of other wheelset components – bearing systems, brake disks on wheels and axles, noise absorbers, etc. Bonatrans personnel also assemble gearboxes, where gearbox design allows so. The majority of wheelsets are assembled by pressing the wheels onto axles at an exactly specified pressure and procedure. For this purpose, the company uses especially a high power main wheelset press. For special wheelsets and components, the company uses several other presses. A small portion of wheelsets (based on requirements specified in technical conditions) is assembled by heat shrinkage. Wheels expand by heating up to the required temperature in the electric furnace and then they are placed, by means of special equipment, in an exact position on the axle, with which they form a compact joint after cooling down (and shrinking). Our certified mounting shop for assembly of bearings ensures assembly of all bearing system types, including TBU bearing units. In order to ensure corrosion protection, wheelsets are provided with a protective coating, which is applied in the wheelset coating line. All coating lines in Bonatrans are environmentally friendly and are equipped with an internal recycling system and offtake of volatile paint components. Specialized technologists of our company are ready to recommend optimum painting systems for particular utilization of the wheelset.
