German high speed trains will run on Bonatrans wheels
DB ICE trains that are among the fastest trains in the world will run on Czech wheels since the end of this year. BONATRANS GROUP a.s., a member of the financial and investment group KKCG, will be delivering wheels for DB units of the third generation ICE-3. First wheels that can be operated at speeds up to 350 kph, will be delivered to Germany by the end of this year.

Deliveries for very high-speed transport are a long term strategic goal of the largest European railway wheel and wheelset producer BONATRANS GROUP a.s. It is an important business success of the company in the period when the sector of railway transport is also affected by the global economic crisis.

“Deliveries for high speed transport are an excellent reference, however, the volume of the contract is also not negligible. We will deliver up to 2000 wheels a year till 2011,” says Mr. Jakub Weimann, BONATRANS GROUP Commercial Director, when commenting importance of the contract.

Wheels that will be operated at maximal speed of 300 kph in Germany, can be operated at speeds even 50kph higher. Production of such wheels is demanding especially in the area of heat treatment, and high material quality is of key importance.

German railways DB started operation of high speed trains in 1991. A third generation of high speed trains named ICE-3 is now already in operation. The units feature high passenger comfort and their operational speed reaches 300 kph.
